Francine Marchese

I began my teaching career as an art educator working in museums and classrooms in New York City. Soon after accepting my first position in a kindergarten classroom, I became passionate about integrating the arts and real world studies into early childhood and elementary education. I have been a teacher of pre-k through the primary grades and I’ve taught in both public and private schools in Baltimore and Washington DC. I am skilled at creating inviting, engaging and culturally responsive curriculum and environments for young children. I have been an advocate for social justice my entire life and I’m always striving to know better and to do better. I have experience leading professional development, instructional coaching and teaching in higher education at JHU and UMD, College Park. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Pratt Institute and a Master’s degree in education from Bank Street College. Besides teaching, my interests include traveling, gardening, literature and painting. I am the proud mom of two grown children; one a teacher and the other a filmmaker. I am very excited to join the team at Watershed PCS!
