I’ve dedicated most of my life as an educator working in special education, low socioeconomic elementary schools, private colleges, and even middle school. Regardless of the learner’s ability or background, I’ve repeatedly noticed a common, motivating teaching modality: hands-on, multi-sensory learning. If a teacher is given encouragement and resources, the overall goal aims to tap into the various intelligences of the learner, which aids in interest, comprehension, and retention. When I was approached to assist with creating WPCS’s vision, I fell in love with the passion and knowledge of the founding team. Over two years later, and now we are given the opportunity to provide these teaching values paired with outdoor education, a farming component, and an art integration program for all students of Baltimore County….regardless of what their family is able to afford. What an awesome dream to reality vision!
